Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung, inaugurated the Transjabodetabek service on the Vida Bekasi - Cawang route at Transjakarta Cawang Sentral Bus Stop, Thursday (5/15).
Today, we will open a new route
This service is expected to reduce the transportation costs for residents of Bekasi who work in Jakarta and vice versa.
New Transjabodetabek Route to Open This Week"Today, we will open a new route, which is just under 42 km long. This route is called Vida Bekasi to Cawang. There are five stopping points, four stopping points are in Bekasi, and one point is in Jakarta," he expressed.
In the initial stage, 12 bus fleets will be operated with a departure frequency of every 10 minutes during peak hours and 20 minutes during off-peak hours. The fares are also quite affordable, set at Rp 2,500 before 7 AM and Rp 3,500 thereafter. While, free fares will still be provided to 15 groups of the community that have been set.
"Hopefully, this will lighten the transportation costs for residents of Bekasi who are going to Jakarta or vice versa," he explained.
It is also hoped that more private vehicle users will switch to public transportation. Thus far, about 22.1 percent of residents outside Jakarta use public transportation.
He hoped that the number would increase by five percent. Thus, by the end of 2029, we could reach 40 percent of public transportation users in Jakarta and the surrounding areas.
"I think it can be able to parse traffic jams in Jakarta," he continued.
He also plans to open a new route from PIK to Blok M. He is also considering the proposal to open a route from Bogor City to Cibubur. He is grateful that the expansion of the Transjabodetabek service has received a positive response from the people of Greater Jakarta.
Meanwhile, the newly operational route from Blok M to Alam Sutera has received high enthusiasm from the community.
"Every day, there are more than 2,200 users and 3,500 users on weekends. This shows that the route is truly popular among the public," he asserted.
Pramono also mentioned that unused land will be optimized into park and ride facilities to support the Transjabodetabek services.
Bekasi Mayor, Tri Adhianto welcomed the launch of the new Vida Bekasi-Cawang route. This integrated, safe, and affordable TransJabodetabek route is deemed to help reduce the expenses of the Bekasi community and will have an impact on improving air quality.
"Usually to get into Jakarta, we can spend around Rp 15,000 to Rp 20,000 per day for a round trip," he explained.
He believes that this new route will boost the economic activities of the community. Hope the strategic cooperation that has been established between the Jakarta Government and Bekasi City Government will continue in various fields, including flood and waste management.
